About A Year Apart

From 2011 to 2012, this website documented a year of life lived 12,000 kilometres apart. It was created as a personal diary for the NATO deployment of two Vancouver Police Department members who served overseas, and was originally accessible to VPD staff through their internal firewall.

Over time, many of the original posts and images have been removed to respect privacy and reflect changing circumstances. What remains here is a simplified record acknowledging that the project existed, without the detailed day‑to‑day content.

This site is now maintained as an archive only. No new material will be added, and most of the original stories and photographs are no longer available online.
